Setting video options
Screen Recorder Gold video options allow you to optimize your video recordings by selecting a balance
between the file size, quality, and frame rates of your movies.
To set video options: Select Options->Preference menu item and click Video tab.
- Capture [#] Frames Every second/minute/hour: This field determines the capture frame rate and
dictates how long Screen Recorder Gold pauses after capturing each frame.
- Playback [#] Frames Every second/minute/hour: This field determines the playback frame rate
and specifies how many frames are played back per second/minute/hour.
- Compressor: Select an compressor (CODEC) for your .AVI file from the drop-down list. And
compresses .AVI files to make them smaller in size and play faster. The default setting
is the Microsoft Video 1 compressor.
- Quality: The quality setting determines how your movie is saved. A lower value results
in lower picture quality and a smaller file size. A higher value provides higher picture
quality, but a larger file size. (Only some compressors use this value.)
- Set Key Frames Every [#] frames: This setting specifies the key frame rate. When a frame is
saved in an .AVI file, it can either be saved as a full frame or only partially as the difference
between the current frame and the previous frame. The key frame rate specifies how often full
frames are written to the .AVI file. A high value enables you to fast-forward or rewind to
a particular frame in your movie much faster, but results in a higher file size.
- About: view compressor (CODEC) information and copyright.
- Configure: Click this button to configure the parameters of your selected compressor. (Some
compressors do not have configurable parameters.) The parameters for each compressor are
different and some settings may cause Screen Recorder Gold's performance
to degrade or become unpredictable.
- Default: Let Screen Recorder Gold select a compressor for you.
